We took a non-sailing three day holiday and went to Caddo lake in far east Texas. Average water depth was 3 feet so it is not a sailing lake, but my goodness, is it a special place!
Lots of really good fishing, dense cypress tress shrouded in spanish moss surrounded by lily pads, tons of frogs at night. Marked cleared lanes that were 4 feet deep. The lovely town of Uncertain, Texas. We even saw the Uncertain Church.
Very worth a weekend not sailing to see a very different kind of lake.
