Cate, A while back I had the oposite problem, my trancducer was bad and when I contacted the manufacturer They made me an offer that I couldn't refuse, providing both for $ 129 + -. In any event you might consider calling them and finding out what they have to say.
If it is, I had the same problem with the fading display and when I sent it in for repair, they said it was not worth repairing and offered me a discount on a new unit. Instead of getting a new Signet unit, I opted to go with a Standard Horizon knotmeter so as to match my SH depth sounder and I wanted to relocate the speed transducer ahead of the keel.
I am not sure if I threw out my SR Mariner depthfinder or not. I will have to check. But it is 16 yrs old and display somewhat faded - visibility was fine. I replaced it with a fishfinder instead of getting it repaired. The fishfinder installation and covering the large depthfinder hole which is larger than most current depthfinders is also detailed on my website.
If I have the old depthfinder, it buried on my workbench. I'll check tonight and if I still have it, will respond again.
I found my old SR Mariner buried under stuff on the workbench ! You are welcome to it. Not sure if it was the transducer or the unit that did not work but I replaced it with the Fishfinder shown on my website. My old SR Mariner has some crazing under the display but the gauge is visible. It's going to still look like an old gauge if you use the display from my Mariner and who knows, maybe the unit works and it's the transducer that was bad.
Let me know if still interested or if you are going to get a new depthfinder or fishfinder.

Larry, I contacted SR Mariner and Corey sent me this message: "The digital depth meter we have use a 4 digit LCD, our part number EM54 and they cost $38.00 each plus S&H. The LCD is a plug-in type and requires no soldering."
I'm going to check my current SR Mariner Depth meter display to see if it has a plug in LCD. If not I'll contact you about your display. The transducer is working fine for me, it's just that the LCD is flaking.
Reading your posting, my SR Mariner may not be what you need. My SR Mariner is the analog model. the display face is basically the clear plastic in front of the gage needle. I did not realize you had the digital model and it was the LCD you were interested in.
The background on it is that it did not work. I spoke to the mfr and was considering sending it to them to have it evaluated/repaired, but I decided to replace it with a fishfinder. I cut the wire to the transducer and left the transducer where it is epoxied under the V-Berth. It is possible that the transducer is bad and the gage is okay but I doubt it. In any case, anyone that wants to fool around with it is welcome to it. Not sure if it is worth the cost to ship it. Anyone wants it, let me know how you want to arrange pickup/delivery.
