Anybody ever replace their bulbs with LED bulbs? Which ones did you replace? What experience did you encounter? Good choice? Inside cabin only? Did you have to replace entire light or just the bulb?

Fishing to save power in researching solar panels.

Thanks.

Scooter,
I replaced my interior bulbs with LEDs. I have the Festoon type bulbs which I'm sure are different than yours. However here's a link to a thread that may help. BTW the festoon's I installed in the cabin work great!

Scooter:
I relocated and replaced quarter berth light with the 36 bulb white LED from http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=OTHER
I also removed the bulb from my stock cabin light over the sink and wired/spliced/soldered another 36 bulb LED into the fixture. The light is a blue/white that is just fine but more importantly my battery hardly shows a load when both are on. I cut a square piece of industrial strength velcro matched to the size of the light board to fasten each LED square to the back of the fixture. I also added some more shiny aluminum tape to the reflective bowl of the fixture to increase reflectivity.

You may also want to take a look at these:

I have way too little light in Swimmer and plan to increase it.

Scooter,

I just replaced the anchor light with an LED light made by OGM. The original anchor light uses approx .85-.90 amps/hr. The OGM LED Anchor Light is CG approved and uses approx .15-.20 amps/hr. Here is a website to it. The model I bought also has a photoelectric cell and automatically shuts the light off when the sun comes up - So that saves addl amps !

If you do a lot of overnighters, then this a good way to go especially if the anchor light is not working to begin with as was the story in my case.

I was/am also interested in changing the running lights to LEDs but after checking out the cost of OGMs running lights and also another competitior, Lopolight ( http://www.lopolight.com/ ), I have decided to put that off.
