Hi All, my old wood motor board was shot so I ordered the CD white motor board. There are no holes drilled in it, but that is not the problem. When I ordered it, the guy at CD really pushed for me to buy the Stainless Steel backing plate and I blew him off. But when I mounted the board yesterday, it dawned on me that maybe they had the white boards break in half and instead of fixing the problem, they push for the backing plate. Any thoughts about this? I don't want to loose my motor in the St. Clair river when I motor to my new slip. Cheers.
CD is the one to ask, but my understanding is that the SS plate is more for security than anything--it has a lip that keeps the motor from sliding off. Most other brackets have solid poly boards with no other reinforcement, but with slightly indented areas for the clamps.
