Ever wonder what a deep cycle battery looks like after it explodes!
Luckily this was not in my boat. I took this picture today while visiting one of my heavy equipment repair shops. The mechanic plugged in the charger and Boom!
Plugged a low-rate battery into a high-rate charger?
Have seen two other battery explosions. Once when disconnecting a battery charger after a high charge cycle and one where a starter solenoid stuck on a GMC pickup. The second explosion made a pretty good noise.
Happened once while I was starting my mother's Mercury. Dented the hood from the inside and spewed acid all over the engine compartment. She never quite believed that it wasn't because I did something wrong.
