Spent the last couple days catching up on a few projects and getting the boat and trailer ready for the 2006 BEER cruise in Pensacola. We'll be leaving out in the morning after rush hour headed for the Gulf. If all goes well it should be about a 7 hour trip down. Of course that all depends on how long it takes me to get through Atlanta, always a scary event pulling a 12' high 8' 6" wide boat down 12 lanes of traffic with cars passing you on both sides at 80 mph. We'll be spending 7 days aboard Knotty Cat on this trip. The official start date for the cruise is Saturday-Tuesday but we plan to get in a couple days of Gulf sailing on both sides of the cruise and to avoid the rush at the ramp. Ever watch 76 sailboats try launch at the same time?

At last count there were 3-25's and 1-250(me) and a bunch of C22's.

Tom,

Sounds like an awesome event...Take good notes and plenty of pictures...maybe even write a possible article for the Mainsheet.

I hope you have nothing but pleasant weather throughout your trip, including the trailering portion.

Have a great time Tom. I have seen many sailboats that I would not mind owning, but to be able to trailer to a new location is so cool. Cheers and have fun.

Typing this from the dock in Pensacola. The trip down from Atlanta was good, the F150 4x4 got right at 10 MPG. We have been sitting at the dock since Wednesday just taking it easy talking with fellow sailors as they arrive. There are about 40 boats in the water so far and as I look up at the ramp there are still a few lined up to put in. We'll be leaving out in the morning for about a 28 mile run east in the Santa Rosa sound to our first anchorage point.
The weather as been warm to say the least, it's been in the mid 90's. Today a much needed Florida afternoon rain shower came through and has cooled things down.

Arlyn, Charlie and Laura showed up about 9am. For those that don't know they sailed from Texas to Pensacola for this event.
