The biggest engineering problem is what the mast is attached to and how “butch” that linkage as to be. The mast has to be free standing with no stays and able to rotate. I have seen multihull racers with rotating masts but they only have to handle the main, this rig has to handle both mainsail and genoa. What must the weight of the attachment and supports below deck be?

I seem to recall Catalina offering it on one of their little day sailers. It's slowly gaining popularity on larger yacths--one sheet controls both sails on a single boom, the jib is self-tacking, and you get an automatic "wing and wing" configuration on a run. But like most of those easy-to-handle rigs, it looks a little funny--mostly because the jib tack is way above the foredeck.
