I have been sneaking evening sails between work and un-packing. Tonight the wind was way stronger than it looked. I was stuck as the autopilot was down below and I was alone. Here is a quick video off the cell phone. The water up here tastes better than the river water in Jax.
I am too much of a novice to tell you one way or the other Tom, but I am impressed with the quality and amount of video you got off your phone. Thanks for sharing.
Looks exciting! My brother took a video from my Saturday sail, but it wasn't when we were cruising 6-7+ knots for over an hour non-stop. I wish I got a video of that.
Tom, Thanks for sharing this looks great! "Leprechaun" is currently on the hard ..We leave for the Nationals tomorrow, Hope we have as much wind... and No rain... we have been watching the forecast. Thanks again for sharing. Alan
That looks like fine sailing and I don't think any reefing was necessary. No white caps, no rounding up, no big puffs heeling you over past 40 degrees, no big waves. Looks like you had your 110% jib on, heeled about 30 degrees? Perfect.
Could you send some of that wind over here? I'm tired of 5 knots of breeze for the after-work evening sails.
Looks like great sailing. I went out on Lake Mead Sunday and sailed my 250 with just the main up, non-reef. I was on a starboard tack and got hit by a 20+mph gust and went form 10 degrees to 35 degrees. Turned hard upwind, did a accidental tack and rolled to a 35 degree port tack. We had white caps and lots of chop. I learned a lesson, I should have reefed. Thanks for sharing.
The wind was 20-25. I do still need fine tune the rigging. A little more backstay tension is order. What was not on the video was the rail underwater and me hanging on for my dear life!!!
First time I had my C25 out it blew like that 20-25 mph winds, sailed on a full main and reefed jib, heck only had about a hanky out, enough to give her head just a bit. it was a great sail, never got over 25 even in some good puffs, It was great first sail, I have come to apprciate the fin keel, my last boat a Spindrift 22 had stub keel with a board, put the rail in the water almost every time I was out unless the wind didnt cooperate. Any way firts day out big wind, gained confidence in my new to me boat, and washed the champagne of the foredeck, :) may the fair winds and following seas be yours....
