It sure feels good to get Trading Time back in the water! Last year I built an airplane so sailing took a back seat to about 1200 hours of work to complete the plane. Every spare minute was devoted to building. http://www.vansairforce.net/rvoftheweek/2005/37a1.jpg

We have launched in a high mountain lake here in Oregon and man its nice to be back on the boat. For a 1997 she's still in great shape. The ladder feet are deteriorating and need to be replaced, any one have a source for these?

If they are the chair tip style ladder feet, I buy mine for about a buck and a half at Walmart. Ace, Aco, Sears,...etc carry them as well.

Hi Tony,

Ditto on buying replacements at Wal-Mart.

BTW ... what a GREAT-looking airplane! What kind is it? Did you build it from a kit? What sort of true airspeed does she get? I assume you've flown her maiden flight ... I've fantasized about building my own airplane, but I wonder just how butt-puckering that first flight must be.

Anyway, she's a BEAUTY!

It’s Vansaircraft RV7.http://www.vansaircraft.com/ Two seat fully aerobatic Hot Rod! It took about 8 months to build. Most guys take two to three years to build. But I am a little impatient. Get focused and make it happen. It has a 180 hp engine with a constant speed prop. True top speed is 212 mph. Cruises at 202 mph. First flight was September 12th 2005. As for the first flight, there is a very detailed inspection by the FAA before the plane can be certified. Also I made d@#$ sure that the plane was ready. I prepared the plane and myself for the first adventure. Having over 200 hours in this type of plane made it a lot easier. I slept just fine the night before, got up early and went to the airport. Got in the plane and took off. Flew for 45 minutes orbiting over the airport and landed. Easy and simple. But the next flight I was more nervous than the first. I guess it had sunk in, I was flying a plane that I built. So before the third flight another through inspection was done. I now have 120 hours on the plane and it’s a blast!
