Hi All, I tuned my rigging today and with the furler I have, I can not rake my mast back past center. I hung a pipe wrench from the mail sail halyard and with all the adjustment out of the furler, The pipe wrench hung at about 2/3 of the way back on the side of the mast. What are the sailing problems with this if any? Cheers.

Check out TOGGLES at Mauri Pro Sailing. You need a rigging toggle (or several) to extend your forestay.

Dennis,

Not having rake and pre-bend will not even make a difference until you've been sailing for a few years. You can get the rigging toggle as Frank mentions, but IMHO you won't be able to even notice it at your current experience level.

It may look funny, but mine needs a little forward rake to be balanced. "MY" Theory is when looking at the boat, there is no crew weight. Most of the wight goes in the cockpit. Stern squats a few inches. Now you get underway. As speed builds, the stern squats a few more inches and the mast rake is now correct for a boat in motion. Again theis is only my "theory"

Tom.
