I just got a 1985 OB and am awaiting the owner's manual. There are two knobs/dials that I do not understand what they control. One on the forward side and one on the port side. Any ideas Many thanks! Jerry
The one on the side is the slow speed idle adjustment, it takes a lot of turns to notice anything, the one on the front is the mixture setting; lean-rich. Get the boat just past (faster) the start position on the throttle while in gear and set the mixture for the best RPM. Idle back down and set the idle speed so the engine runs reliably at low throttle and does not die. After that play with them at will but I think that will be a good place to start.
