I headed out today for a quick sail. I decided to put a reef in before I left the dock. I was greeted with 20-25 kts on the beam. I took some video with the cell phone. It has been an awesome couple of weeks up here in the Pacific NW.
Did I note that you have your main sheet at mid-boom rather then at the end? If so, How do you like it, what is your design and what equipment did you use?
The thing about video is, it doesn't quite capture the magnitude of the conditions. In this video, the waves were fairly large, but one can't really tell from the clip.

I have a traveler that spans the cockpit. I used Harken small boat hardware which is at the upper end of its load limits. I do not race and was able to purchace it on clearance for a great price. I cut holes through the hull liner to allow fender washers to contact the plywood under the seats. It has been very secure and offers much better sail control. It also allowed me to put a full bimini over the cockpit. That was super nice in Florida. I will take some video and post it.
