I told you I would have pictures for you of the Nautilus. Don't be shocked this first is from when I bought it at a public auction. The boat was abandonded the PO stopped paying his moorage and the Port sold it to me for $2200!
She came with just about every sailing gadget there is, plus some personal items.
Another view from the stern.
And here she is coming out of the drive after a year of resting mixed with a little work (mostly polishing out the hull).
July 1st was a beautiful day to launch, except one minor detail...It was also opening day for crabbing in the Puget Sound, I've never seen so many boats on the sound.
That's all for now, but since I've figured out how to post pics there will be more updates.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the advise you have offered to me and others before me who had the same questions. Tips on cleaning and restoring old finishes has been very helpful.
Mark, I only painted the upper stripes and boot stripe (with West Marine's topside paint) the rest I polished out with a high speed rotary polisher and Meguiars Heavy duty oxidation remover (really just a heavy rubbing compound) folllowed by Meguiars #2 and then a carnuba wax. This gave me the best of both worlds as I was able to change from that brownish/red stripe color and the rest of the hull should shine easliy with a fresh coat of wax once in a while.
For the lettering I designed it and had MainMedia (a great company here in Everett) cut it out of vinyl. I applied it myself for a total cost of $85.
