I raised my 135 Genoa on the CDI Furler, however, it will only raise to about 15" from the top, as there is an "S" shaped kink in the luff of the furler. Any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this, short of buying a new luff, would be appreciated.
Are you saying the kink is in the luff of the sail or the plastic extrusion? If it is the extrusion, CDI recommends placing the extrusion on a flat surface in the hot sun to allow it to reurn to shape. They recommend several days.
The kink is in the plastic luff of the furler - unfortunately it sat in the hot Florida sun for a year before being sold to me so I doubt that it will now straighten using the method described. The manual suggests that for furlers that have been in the shipped, coiled position, but this has a sharp S bend, from drooping over the stored mast, not a C bend. I will try this before ordering a new one, but wondered if there are any other solutions?
Check out page 5 (Removing Kinks) in the CDI manual, says to place in a PVC pipe for 1-2 weeks in direct sun. Maybe worth a try before you spend the bucks.
