I am in need of replaicing my Roller Furling. The only part hat needs replacing is the "Bail" (I think that is what it is called. It is the part that the line wraps around and causes the rest of furler to spin). There is nothing on the unit its self that says what brand it is. The bail is actualy conected to the furler with a hose clamp and medical tape, the plastic is cracked and broken from the sun. Does anyone know if I can replace jst the "Bail" without purchasing and entire new roller furling kit (about a $1,000 dollar difference). Are they for the most part universal fitting??
No.. I am not the one responsible to the hose clamp and tape. :-)
Post a photo if you can or a more complete description of the "system". If the foil is still in good shape you should be able to replace the drum assembly. You'll need to ID the manufacturer though.
Look at other boats and find one like yours with a brand on it. We need to know the brand... and Al is right, photos would be great. Does it look like this?
Thanks for the responces. I will have pictures after this weekend. I know for sure the Furling is not a CDI or Harkin.. Ironicly I was on the docks talking with Jim Baumgart (our commodor) who said.. "You might want to replace that thing soon". Sure enough that afternoon while sailing in the ocean there she blew...
