Ever have one of those days?

Last day of our trip to Key Largo, we anchored off Sands Key in Key Biscayne for the night. I set my mobile phone for a 5am shake a leg alarm, set the A/C and we hit the sack just after watching Americas Got Talent (10pm)

Phone alarm went off at 5am (and 5:05am and 5:10am as set).

"Wow, what a great nights sleep, I didn't toss and turn at all, best nights sleep on the boat" was my first conversation with Peggy as I Prepared Coffee and a breakfast of Cereal and Yogurt.

We cleaned up the cabin, then I pulled in the two anchors while Peggy prepped the GPS for the course back to Blackpoint marina. She commented that the Anchor alarm didn't sound and that our swing around the anchor was as predicted. Life was good.

Motor starts and I'm stowing the anchors.

"Honey! Is the GPS ever wrong?"

It's Possible I explain, "Why?"

"Well if it's not wrong, why are we up and motoring at 2:38 in the morning?"

It turns out that overnight, my cell phone, which had been at no-bars for days, decided that it could find my email and alerted me of new email - at 2am!

We were back at the marina around 6am pulling the boat out of the water!

It was a Loooooong Day!

Even if the show lasted an hour and you got a few minutes of nookie you still racked up just short of 4 hours in the sack....any new parent would kill for that.

Get an alarm clock and turn the cell phone OFF! Everybody should be able to be out of touch sometime--especially overnight on a boat!

Hey Duane... Nookie only takes you a "few minutes"? How sad.

I was sure that you were going say the the tide had gone out and you were hard aground. That you did not rock or move because you were stuck fast in the sand. Thats what happened to me once as crew on anothers boat in Richardson bay SF. Were were stuck in the mud until the tide came back in. Instead of getting an earlier than planned start we were about half a day late.

In a similar vein I spent the night on the boat 2 weeks ago because its so close to the airport and I had a very important meeting in Sacramento and a 6:30 AM departure. I set the alarm on my cell phone to wake me at 04:30. I had a very good nights sleep. I woke up naturally with no alarm. Lying there I thought "Its pretty light for 04:30!" I reached over to look at my watch, it was 5:35! My cell phone had some funny blank screen with an error message. I got up, dressed, up to the car, in 5 minutes. Raced to the airport as fast as I've ever driven my little hybrid car. Ran through the parking lot. Arrived at the gate with 4 or 5 minutes to spare.
