I am in Virginia...so not going to take you up on the offer. But...I use to live on Long Island over 20 yrs ago. I kept a Luger 16 in the town next to yours...in Amityville. There was a marina there that sold mostly ODays. I eventually bought a brand new 1980 ODay 23 from the marina but had them launch it from their satellite store in Post Jefferson (on the North Shore - Long Island Sound with the big boys). My first sail was about 25 miles to Huntington Harbor where I then kept it there for 5 years.

The marina in Amityville where I kept the Luger 16 (bought it from the PO who built it from a kit) was on the same block where the house was located that was the basis for the Amityville Horror House movie. Brings back old memories....remember all the people that would drive slow near that house to get a better look at it. It was actually a nice looking house.

I remember going under the Wantagh Pkwy Bridge and had to watch the tide because one time I passed under it fine but coming back, the bridge operator then saw me and beeped me to probably not go under. I went under and just grazed the superstructure. Those were the days (on the South Shore) going to Jones Beach/Fire Island, with many shallow areas in some places...remember even getting out of the Luger 16 (and before that..a Banshee 13) and dragging the boat in something like 6-12" of water. But plenty of good sailing areas and peaceful.

Wish you luck in getting a renter for your slip.
