The Officers had a scheduled meeting this evening and awarded the 2007 Nationals to the bid submitted by Bill Meinert. The bid listed the Cleveland Race Week as the time and location. The specifics dates will be determined by the Cleveland Race Week organizers per their schedule. More information will become available when Bill becomes aware of it. Congratulations Bill and thank you for your dedication to the organization.

Thanks Guys, As one of the new founding members of Fleet 404 Lake Erie, I am extremely excited about next years races. As with many plans that involve long range planning I expect to have many questions coming from our fleet and freinds. There are many ideas floating around out there about improvements or sujestions on how to top this years event and I'm all ears. But as always it will take alot of promotion on a lot of fronts to make 2007 as good if not better than 2006. For those of you that have questions, please feel free to contact me at wmeinert@kconline.com or call at home at 260-982-1929. I look forward to helping everyone make it to the 2007 Nationals!!!!! We will post a notice of the race as soon as Cleveland Race Week is posted by Edgewater Yacth Club.
After waiting out most of the summer, I decided to leave Nin Bimash in Michigan for the winter. If I had know sooner about the Nationals I think I would have swallowed the cost and dragged her home to Ohio one more time. I'll be looking for someone to crew for, probably Al Eckhart I have to admit it was an easy 500 miles without the boat. It cost over $300 to take it north (over 3 tanks of gas) but less than $100 to come home. (driving South being downhill and all..) Well, the Cleveland venue was grand and we all had a terrific time so it will be a joy to go again, and perhaps we will have an even bigger fleet. I know, lets get BP to be a sponsor and get some gas money in the prize pot.
Let me know if I can help Bill, I'm only an hour and a half away from Cleve town.
I am quite sure there will be help needed eventually, Maybe John seeings how your the band guy you can come up with some inspirational sailing music for all of us to play onboard while we race, Not Bach or Batovien, or Jungle music either, put Pirates of the Carabian (whatever) would be fun. It would be nice to have a theme also for our show. Anyone having ideas please feel free to mention them. I would love to see an all woman and teenager team too.
Somebody gets me a boat, I can definitely get a all female crew together. (with a legitimate skipper owner to boot....) If I convince them that there friends won't laugh at them due to racing such a slow pig.
