Is it true that Catalina has a buy back program? While having a small tantrum today over my anchor and running lights, the guy in the slip next to me said, "if I was you, I'd git my money back from Catalina on that thang." He then elaborated about his old Hunter, and how they bought it back for the price he paid a year later. He said Catalina has the same program. Is it true?
I've never heard that the Catalina Yachts company had any kind of buy back program. However, when I was a dealer during the '70's and '80's I would often make a sale where I'd guarantee a trade in value as part of the deal to help a buyer move up sometime in the future. I even did this with used boats occasionally.
If you bought your boat from a private individual though, it's yours till you sell it.
Can we help you solve the problems with the lights and anchor??
No, I fixed the lights today, thanks. I also finished my auto tiller install, and hope to commision it this weekend.
The guy in the slip next to me is a creep. He was bothering me again today about getting Catalina to take the boat back. The first time I met him, he said hello and began explaining to me all the things wrong with my boat's design. I am trying to be polite, but it's getting more difficult every day. The marina just raised their rates to 8.90/ft, 30ft minimum, so I'm looking for a new home. I'll be sure not to wave goodbye as I leave.
I thought you mentioned some time back that you were going to be moving away from the sub-base. If you do, maybe you could get up river here. Plenty of room to cruise or race. It's a long way to the ocean, but if you catch the tide right you could be there in the better part of a day. My slip costs me $3.75 & everybody is really friendly. I've had two bow lines part and the other tenants secured her for me (it's about four miles to the far bank and the wind can really blow sometimes) BTW, I've seen your Weeny Bean and there's not a thing wrong with her!
Thanks, Ben. I sent you an email concerning a move. I am definitely looking for a new slip. I hope to find something close to Amelia, but I'll drive further from home for good sailing grounds.
Thanks for not mincing words Tray !
When we were offered our first dock (as opposed to a mooring) we immediately asked for a transfer to avoid being near the biggest BS'r this side of the Missisippi.
You can't spend all that time, effort and money only to have someone spoil your R&R time.
Whew! Thank God my old marina still hasn't made it into the early 21st century. They forgot to update their records and figured I was just late with my payment, so my old slip is still available.
The facilities are terrible, and I can't come in after low tide because of the 3 knot current ripping through it, but the neighbors are much nicer, and it costs half as much. So I'll be sailing from Fernandina to St Marys tomorrow, and will get to try out the new autotiller.
