I saw an add for the Garmin GPSMAP 76 Model 6860290 for $199.99. Does anyone have this model and how would you rate it. It says it has 8MB internal memory for downloading BlueChart and MapSource cartography. Would like to know what others think of this.
I have the 76 without the map....In general that is a great unit. I can't comment on the map functionality, but am very pleased with all other features.
I have a lowrance H2Oc Color that I got from West Marine for 260.00. For 60 bucks I would go with the color, all of the US Ocean maps are 100.00 and you can get the inland lakes for free from there site. They also have a newer one out that has the ability of playing MP3's. All other color GPS units that I looked at were in the 500.00 range. Just a thought........
Just a note - most if not all maps are available in a few different formats from NOAA. I would look for a GPS with map cabalility that would accept those charts
I have one. Had it about two years and has worked great for me. I sail on a lake. Bought "fishing hot spots" for the southeast and loaded on the GPS and has good details of the lakes I sail on.
