Frankly, I don't have a whole lot of problem with my stock table. I think I've taken it off the bulkhead about 15 times since I bought my boat in 1989. The last time was on Wednesday so my wife could do some school work while I was doing some race committee work for our Weds night races. It is heavy and rather unwieldy trying to set it up so the hinge is certainly a better idea.

Seaward sailboats have had that table design for 20 years.
