Hi All, I am not sure if these are actually what they are called, but I washed the boat yesterday and noticed that when I washed the inside of the cockpit side compartments, the water did not come out the holes as much as it leaked into the sail locker. Has anyone experienced that and what was your fix? CHeers.

Use a wet sponge to clean them, the older the boat the worse the pockets seem to be sealed.

I washed out my combings a couple of months ago when I was cleaning the boat for the summer. I found thousands of little teeeny dead spiders that had clogged the two drain holes. Once I got rid of all of them, and kept the holes open they worked great. The drains wouldn't work until all the spiders were gone because they kept stopping up the drains.

If the seams are leaking you'll need to seal the seam with a good quality sealant. Leaking into the lazerette on the port side isn't too bad but leaking into the quarterbirth on starboard could end up being a pain if the leak isn't fixed.

Getting the tube into the combing could be a problem though. There should be some indicaton in the lazerette or quarterbirth where the water is coming in. Once located, a dab on your finger into the seam may take care of it. If near the drain hole you will probably have to clean it out as well.

Dennis,
I'd pass a drill through the weep holes to be sure they are clear. Should ease the problem. If it ain't broke don't fix it is my motto.

Hi All, at this point, the holes are clear and the leak into the lazerette is 10 to 1. It seems like they have pulled away from the combing. I've looked at it carfully and both the port and starboard have seperated. That explains the mysterious leaks I've had. I am going to make up a microfiber and epoxy putty and seal them with that. Should work. Cheers.
