I can see how sailing around Galveston Bay could be rough on keel bolts. I hit a wreck yesterday going about 5 knots. The boat came to an abrupt stop while a friend was standing at the bow pulpit. He almost went overboard.
The bottom of the bay is littered with so many wrecks, oyster beds, and submerged pylons that knowing your exact position is pretty important. After yesterday's experience I'm gonna keep my GPS zoomed in on map mode so I can keep an eye out for the submerged obstructions.
I need to have the boat hauled out to inspect for damage. Hopefully, the lesson learned will not be too expensive.
