Hi All, here is a link to a 25 on eBay. Check out the photos of the cabin. Looks like they removed the backrest on the rear port dinette seat. It really opens up the feel of the cabin. After showing my wife this, we desided to remove ours and see how we like it. Cheers.
Hey, Dennis...Removing the seatback does look to really open the cabin up and it's probably easy to do too!
I'd consider doing the same, but with my bimini up, that seatback makes the perfect step between the cockpit and cabintop. For a while now, I've been tossing around the idea of adding a small step to the top of the seatback for even better footing.
One thing that we all agree on is that our boats are headsail driven. With that self-tacking clubfoot jib that has to be the slowest Catalina 25 in the world.

Just got back from a sail with my sister and while at the boat, looked at how difficult it would be to take it out and by the time I got done, had it out. I'll let it alone for the time being, but I think I will cut off about 3/5ths of the backrest so the nice curved end will be right at the stove ledge. I tried to use the backrest as a step, but heard cracking so haven't done so since. I will post pics. Cheers.
