I got another chance to go out on Sunday, Re the Capri25 thread, and it turned out to be a great day. We set out to the club around 12:30, My wife and I were going to be able to take the boat out with a couple of other members of the club. Sunday was the first of our Winter Series and we just go a late start. We got to the club at 1:00 listening to the gun shots of the first race. I took the boat down off of the hoist, and got everything ready to go.

I have been rolling up our main sail for over the last year and Saturday I rolled it up in a different way so that the bolt rope goes right up the main sail track on the mast. It was so much easier than how we have been rolling up the sail in the past, and for anyone flaking their sails I would recommend rolling it up this way.

Start at the middle of the sail and just start rolling up the sail with it folded over once. Keep the bolt ropes square and the sail will roll up smooth. Try it out.

We headed out into lake Keystone around 1:30 and it was a very overcast day. we had lighter winds than Saturdays 14 knots but still had some whitecaps. I got the main sail set and we all decided that it was just going to be a cruising day. We were heading up the lake and decided to put up the 105% head sail so the heal of the boat and the adjustment of the sails in puffs were easy to handle.

We were out for around an hour when we decided to go under the 412 bridge to the other side of the lake, My wife and I had never been bold enough to go under the bridge, but we all have to live once in a while. We were told that if you can see light under the lower supports that we could get under the bridge without the mast touching.

We approached the bridge and it looked like we were not going to make it, above the mast I have our windex, and a windguage that goes about another foot before the mast head. It was a close call, I thing we had about 4 feet to work with going under the bridge.

The other side of the lake is like a huge bowl, the lake is about 4 miles in any direction with two rivers coming into it. There were people on four wheelers on the sand beaches, and a couple of marina's that I didn't even know about. Next year I would like to take my wife and son for a weekend of camping out on the boat.

It was getting close to time to head back so we turned around and headed back to our home port. We again went under the bridge, but we went under on the shorter side. I took a note of where the water was sitting on the bridge, and the lake level. about half way back we got into a good upwind duel with a soling, Nice looking boat.

In the video you can hear my wife having a blast, Its what sailing is all about. We had a great time on the boat, good fun with friends, and a very relaxing sail.

WOW - that looked like you really were having (and did) alot of FUN! It's nice to let the coastal floaters know that we inlanders can enjoy the wind as well - especially here in OKLAHOMA!

Fortunately over here on Lake Hefner, I don't have to worry about whether the mast will clear the bridge. Went out yesterday over here as well and enjoyed the 25 - 30 degree tilts with the variable 15 - 25 mph gusts that we're used to.

Keep up the interesting videos and comments. I enjoy reading about your Capri 25 and the fun that's available here in OK!

Happy winds!
