Saturday we had a long cruise in light winds with some friends aboard for the first time. As the sun & winds died we decided to motor over to a waterfront watering hole for dinner. The engine started, but no spinning of the prop. Nothing. No wind. No motor. No humor amongst the crew. As we were being towed in by a friendly trawler the captain & crew decided it was time for a new motor. So if anyone has an on-line source or knows of a good newer Yamaha or Honda please drop me a line. Thanks
Doug: Just saw ad in Seattle Times: 9.9 Yamaha, year 2000, electric start, long shaft. I have one---heavy, but GREAT OB. Phone in ad is 253.251.4480 Asking price is 1,900. Try for less...
BTW: Just sold my project boat, Suede Shoes, to a fellow near Shelton. I deliver the boat next week. Look for her in S. Sound.
Good luck,

P.S. Engine prob. sounds a whole lot like a simple sheer pin. Did you check it out?
It sounds like a shear pin, but I haven't had the chance to pull the engine yet to check. This is the 3rd issue with the motor this year and it is some 25 years old. A little newer motor would probably make the crew feel a bit better. Thanks for the lead on the Yamaha. I'll call tomorrow.
I had the same problem a while back; the drive shaft sheared. I was able to get it replaced and the prop turns once more.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
