Hey Guys I am looking for some local knowledge in the Annapolis / Baltimore area.

I am looking for a place to put my Cat 25 fin keel. I have called most places that have a web page. I am looking for an inexpensive slip or mooring. I will be living in Columbia, Maryland.

Thanks for any help; I have no knowledge of the area, so any help is greatly appreciated.

See you on the Chesapeake

my daughter lives in that area. we were just recently there for a visit. what a beautiful area. we took a tour of the annapolis harbor. there are many marina's in that area. some big some quite small. we also went to the inner harbor of baltimore. again many many marina's. i am told that there are tons close by as well. good luck.

Max,

I'm from Baltimore, but didn't start sailing until the Navy moved me to Kings Bay, GA. I have friends that keep their boats in the Essex/Middle River area. It is quite a drive from Columbia (about an hour up I-95), but far less expensive than anything near the Inner Harbor. Try checking the online yellow pages for marinas in Essex. I think the place my folks use is called the Essex Yacht Harbor.

BTW, have you given up your slip in Jax yet? I'm looking for a Florida home for my boat. She's temporarily back in St Marys for the time being.

try herrington harbor north, not south. they have a web page. we love the marina, great pool and local restaurants with a water taxi. great sailing five minutes and you are out on bay with sails up. we have a sk 25 and pay $1100 per year, with elec and water on docks. plus the office staff is very nice.

Tray - I keep her at NAS Jaxs on a mooring, they have lots of mooring spaces and slips. The waiting list for slips is not too long (active duty gets moved to the top of the list).

Thanks everyone for the replies, very excited about being in such a sailing “Hot Spot”. I found a spot at NS Annapolis till November. I like to PHRF race and take weekend overnighters with the family, so look forward to seeing you Cats on the water.

So close yet so far. Sorry I didn't get to catch up with you Max before you got away. But do post some pictures of your voyages up there. I don't foresee myself traveling that way in the near future. But with a few nice pictures I can have a vicarious experience. Then when I get to trailer to the Keys I send some back at you.

Safe voyages,

Max,

We are at Green Point Marina, Worton Creek, which is on the Eastern Shore. (410-778-1615) All slips are full for the season but they might have a mooring available.
