Had a great sail on Saturday with Jerry Mulvihills (aka Frog), his son Kevin (currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas) and that old viking Buzz Maring. The wind was variable and shifty (welcome to Canyon Lake) anywhere from 10 - 18, so we got lazy, just hoisted the main and lollygagged around the lake for 4 hours. Was sure nice to have friends on board.

Yep ... it was really fun, and we had a great visit ... thanks, Derek!

BTW, Kevin is a great guy. He just got back from Afghanistan, and I'm glad he made it back OK. Jerry is lucky to have a son like Kevin ... he's the kind of young man who puts a smile on his father's face ... mine, too ... we need more like him.

My thanks also to Derek for providing "THIS SIDE UP" for a spectacular day for my annual Texas sailing fix. Actually, it was a sailing fix for two months of PennyII hurricane breakdown and unusable. Thanks Buzz for the kind words and I am very proud of Him and except for the fact that he enjoys jumping out of perfectly good airplanes He seems to have all His gray matter in the right place.
Here are some pictures of all of the Canyon Lake crew, minus one Bren, who was out earning money in a charity event. Sorry we missed him. The third picture is one I just could not resist, what a beautiful sight.

Is Canyon Lake a year-round venue, or do you have to haul out for the winter months?

Hola friends,

Looks like y'all had a great time! Sorry I missed it. The winds were blowing pretty good at Corpus, too.

Just want to know... how did y'all ever get Derek 'the racing machine' to ever agree to simply 'hoist the main and lollygag around the lake?'

Cheers!

Hi Larry,

Canyon Lake sailing lasts all year long. In fact, this is the beginning of the best sailing ... our October through May sailing weather is hard to beat!
