Does anyone remove their lifelines for the winter?
I'm thinking the vinyl cover would crack with the exposure.
My boat is 2 years old and I have not removed them before.
I'm wondering what everyone else does.

Your life lines will be fine for another 20 years. Then you get new ones.

It's the sun that does the damage so cover or remove. I find that the less I remove the easier to get ready for the next season. Costco tarps installed like some of the others do with supports and weighted tie downs keeps the boat together and clean (sometimes). The halyards and blocks are covered and don't have to be removed but everyone makes a choice. List of do's would include fuel tank care, water tank clean, head area, galley area, raise tires and block access of cats and small creatures. Outboard has it's own list. Make a list and check it twice.

I'm 100% with Hopper

We still have the original lifelines on the boat - they aren't the prettiest lines at the dance, but they do their job.

If you're in saltwater, beware of old rust-stained lifelines. A guy in the local marina went swimming when a corroded spot gave way in his lifelines.

Good point Clam - Saltwater Can make a Difference in the life of the lifelines.

I'm sitting on the 10th largest freshwater pond in the word so I always forget about the effects of Saltwater.
