I bought one of those shore power adapters.
rated for 15 amps regular plug on one side and shore power cord
plugs into that.
so it blew the fuse to the house .
there was nothing pluged into the boat plugs ,
so I figure a short I guess or crossed wires . I didnt have a
ac meter at the boat to check anything,I took the fuse panel off and it
looks wired right (compared to a houses pannel)
I have a 30 amp fuse comeing in
going to a split breaker (two 15s in one)for a plug each.

does anybody have any thoughts on a check list ?
were to start

thanks

I'm guessing a corroded shore-power cord recepticle on the boat.

Try and turn the circut breaker off on the boat side first and connect the cord. It almost sounds to me like your hooking a 220 volt line to a 110 receptical which will go pow.

Assuming that the boat is wired correctly on the 110V side, I wonder if maybe the twist lock connections are a little worn and would allow the possibility of plugging the shore power cord into the wrong orientation.

hey guys ,
ya its a shore power setup may be the dealer installed .
it looks professionaly instaled with the fuse
box in the head locker.
and the plug-in on the starbord side of the boat .
the boats pretty new 2002 and i was carefull pluging it in because it was new to me .
i put it in turned it a little to lock it in and scewed that holder down.

so with the circut breakers both off i plug into the house .
go back to the boat with only a test light in one plug ,flip the breaker.
nothing.
go to the house reset the breaker ,check the plug there its good .try it again same thing.

I unpluged the shore power cord from the boat and its fine , so the problem is on the boat.

the fuse panel looks wired right but I never seen a boat fuse panel before .

I followed the 3 wires 2 to plugs and the other to the shore power thru hull.

I know theres not enough info but I didnt have a meter there to go any further.
I was hopeing there was a hidden switch somewhere .
the fix it switch

I take some photos of the fuse pannel ,
maybe somebody will see something .
maybe the circut breaker is bad
