I have the fixed on my 88. I like it but have no experience with the sliding version on a C25. I suspect that the only real difference between the two is that I use a cunningham on my sail and you have a downhual on your gooseneck to tension the luff.

I have the slider but don't know any difference. I have been sailing all summer with a super baggy headstay so obviously I am not one to ask. Cheers.

If you have a slider and want a fixed, put a sail stop above and below the gooseneck.

I've been doing this since I've owned my boat...works like a champ!

I imagine that the slider would allow you to reef the main and then reposition the boom and sail down or up the mast for optimal performance. Also I suppose it could be repositioned slightly to accommodate the stretching of a new sail as it ages. However I have found that the slider has a tendency to slide up over time if the crew gets too aggressive when raising the main sail. Duane I didn’t know that there is a fixed replacement. Do you have a photo or a reference web site where I can see one I might want to switch mine out also.

I had to reposition the gooseneck a little bit when I changed main sails.
