When I "rescued" Indulgence I from the boat grave yard I found that the manual bilge pump was still functional. However, subsequently it no longer works. I think it would be wise to have this manual bilge to back up the battery powered unit. Does anyone know where I can get parts and perhaps some printed narrative for repairing/replacing for the manual bilge pump on my 78 boat.
I believe most of the pumps were whale pumps. You can probably replace the entire thing for a reasonable amount and have the peice of mind that its not rotten rubber.
Incidently, not all the water makes its way to wherever you put the automatic pump. We have the manual set up to pump water from wherever we put the hose and have used it after storms where the cabin was open and we took a wave.
