I think that is a sad thing. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
We have a number of the WYC folks in the Yahoo Capri 25 group. Our welcome page also points to this association and I have recently rewritten the welcome letter that goes out to a new member on joining adding a paragraph that let's them know about this forum and the association.
Well folks, it seems as though the Ham-It-Up clip on you tube has made it to the home page of sailinganarchy.com for thousands to see worldwide. Those insufferable bastards will show absolutely no mercy with thier comments and critiqes................. I bet the Capn' of H.I.U. wishes he would have thought twice before posting that clip. In my limited opinion I think Mark Hammet's fatal error was posting the clip with the intent that he had a solid racing crew in which he and they acted properly during 2 emergency situations. Video does not lie as it is shown to be to the contrary.
As far as the WYC..............If a Capri 25 were to race in the Nationals sanctioned by this association and won, then that boat would be the true National Champ? Has this Association even granted the WYC a fleet charter? Can the WYC even claim to host the Capri 25 Nationals as they are not sanctioned by Catalina as being part of or affiliated to this National Association? Hey Frank, send them a cease and desist notice, and force them to join us................kidding of course.
I posted it on Sailing Anarchy, The first time I watched the video I was watching the broach, then they got the boat back up and the fordeck fell off, honestly I laughed pretty hard. I located the video because the subscriber of you-tube linked his video with mine.
I felt it was on public access so I posted her, the yahoo site, and SA. There are all kinds of people in this world, and some of the lowest hang out there, from armchair sailors, to rock stars. I also felt that the video gave me a chance to watch first hand how the boat broaches, and how the water rushed into the cockpit area. It is a great learning tool for me.
I received an email about the video from the editor of SA, he asked if I find anything more like this to post it to him first. I have to say that most of the comments on SA are not correct, If someone called my wife a Fat Pig, I would be on the next flight out to kick someones butt. Ham -It - UP I feel has a great race record putting in 71 races in the regular series, and 11 in the National, Hell they won it in 2003.
As far as Nationals go at WYC I would love to go, but thats a far drive for almost all of us. The Capri 25 class at WYC states they are fleet #1 again I will ask how? I am sorry I missed the board meeting last night, my 3 year old and my wife both have this stomach virus, and its been back and forth from work to the house to help out.
It is ok Chris...........I feel the same way. But the pirates over at SA are merciless. I will only disagree with my position being that my concern lies with this Skipper and Crew beleiveing things were done correctly. We have all been in hairy situations, and have done the proverbial "wrong thing", but we learn from it and do not present it to the world as an example of the "right thing" to do in these situations. I did not find any of it funny. The BUG is going around..........wife and 7 YO have it also. I hope yours feel better.
There are a lot of different folks over at SA, but don't knock them all. I've met quite a few, and have received a lot of helpful advice from them. When we went to Ft Lauderdale last year to join up with Bruce on Ocean Planet, a bunch of SA'ers threw us an awesome cookout, loaned equipment and drove us all over the place picking up other equipment. They may be harsh on the forum, but there are some truly amazing people there.
I thought a lot of the comments were fair--some even supportive... My observations were that the captain and most of the crew never totally panicked, but also they did a few things wrong, and in heavier and/or colder water without a spectator boat helping out, the MOB would've been in big trouble. Saying they did a great job (on the WWW) was asking for abuse. The skipper and the core crew need to know an MOB drill for when they're flying a kite, which probably starts with "flagging" it. (As a captain, I'm not a kite-flier.)

Hey Rick, I think you misunderstood me. I was not really knocking anyone at SA, I love the site and every rotten red headed stepchild there as well. I personally did not find anything they said as being offensive............just off color/bad taste, and yes I can admit I laughed when reading some of the more crass responses to Chris's post. I probably spend as much time going over the SA site as I do here.
I have gotten help on SA as well but it is just a click to much for me to keep up with over there. I like this forum because it is active but you can keep up with it.
I agree...................I just actually think I like this site because of the camaraderie as being a close-knit community. For the most part noone here is out to hammer the other guy's opinion in an other than respectful way.
