Our trip to Cocoa beach a week ago gave us our first chance to sail with the new 32 gallon fresh water tank in the v-berth.
WOW! what a difference! We had the main single reefed, but the boat handled beautifully, our best most balanced sail ever. I was frequently able to lock the wheel, move forward to adjust the sheets and return to the wheel while the boat kept a steady course. Absolutely delightful!
Now all I need is to find a few hundred dollars to buy a 135% jib so we can sail with the main unreefed.
I hope to be able to raise the mast in the yard before our next trip so that we can re-configure the reefing setup and the topping lift.
Paul, I'm glad the water tank worked for you. We are happy with ours and it works best when we have friends aboard. It's not for everyone, because the bow plows through the waves and there is a loss in speed. For us the tradeoff was worth it. Russ #793

Hmmmm . . a loss in speed, but she points better! Thats what I like about the batteries I put up front. It really balances the boat.
Paul, I was working on putting the house batteries in the front when I noticed the water tank was on a angle (lower on the port side) and the feed line was on the starbord side. so water could never drain all the way out. I was surprised when I pulled the tank out to flip it around .there was about a third or less of water still in there. I put a 20 gallon tank since i was pulling it out anyway . I am going to put one of those stern showers in.
BTW are you still going to put the backstay on the stern rail seats ,looks like a great mod
