Making the decision to rebuild, update the brakes on the EZ Loader trailer has been made. From the Forum input I am putting all disk brakes on both axles and replacing the master cylinder. Got some awful quotes from my local resources and the internet but found finally the prices that will not break the account. My local auto parts store person called yesterday and found the rebuilt master cylinder for $99 and I told him to order it. The best price until then was $243. The master cylinder is not a car unit as most cars have a 1 inch bore and the EZ loader is 1 1/4 inches. I will report the model number and details as I get them. The unit comes in Monday and it is a disk brake ready master cylinder. There is a unit for drum brakes also that is available. I am remiss in not checking or rebuilding my trailer system years ago as the master cylinder is not rebuildable with deep pits. I looked into cost of resleeving the unit with a stainless steel cylinder as used in many auto rebuilt units and the cost was more than the rebuilt unit coming Monday. Yes, that is snow near the trailer.
I just got my catalog yesterday from Champion Trailers. They sell a complete brake kit that includes stainless steel lines. Also make sure that the new master cylinder is setup for disc brakes. I talked to Shelly at Champion and she was very helpful on what is needed.
Yeah, I am getting snow later tonight!!! Looking forward to y trip to Key Largo in February!!!
As a recommendation, when you bleed your brakes you will find it works best if you use a hand vacume pump that you can buy at harbor frieght for about $20. Having to hand pump that master cylinder is a real bitch.

Don, your right, it is my double sway preventor and easy lift setup. Bruce, the unit slides with the surge system and does not interfere with the braking. It was copied from a unit I saw at a trailer repair shop. After the trailer was out of warrentee and the sway from passing trucks was tough to handle I saw this idea and the owner said he had built several for the local boaters, I was on to the project. Built it different than he had shown by using bolts to be able to remove and service the unit. Have used it for 20 years and the boat tows very nice. Yes I have looked at the kits for rebuilding the master cylinder but my unit is shot so replacement was my only option. My local NAPA store person, John, found this unit which is for disk brakes and it is for the Model 10 hitch, the 10,000 lb model, and is an exact match and warrantied. I now will look for the rebuild kit so that I am better prepared for maintaining the system. I really let this go too long without doing a rebuild and the unit was too pitted to hone, but the brakes always worked. I need to follow up the suggestion and call Champion so thanks.
There was some discussion a long while back about the type of brake fluid to use. Someone was saying that regular fluid atracts moisture just as salt does. And so begins the rust process. But that synthetic would not. So when I had my brakes rebuilt I had the synthetci stuff put in. It was more expensive. But compared to the price of new brakes it was nominal. I cannot tell you how well it has held up because my trailer is forty miles away at my sister-n-law's and I have not checked on it in two years. Maybe this will serve as motivation.
