I have a Universal Diesel (10hp) in my 1986 C-25. After looking high and low for a manual on my engine, I have come up with nothing other than starting to look for a mechanic! Anyway, does anyone know where I can find a manual for my engine? Is this company still in business? I was not able to really find anything related to my engine except a bunch of other sailboats with universals. The model number on my engine in my boat is 415330.

I'm pretty sure that Universal's were made in Detroit if that helps

I think Universals are made by Westerbeke. Have you checked their site or tried to contact them?

I checked out Westerbeke as Dave mentioned. They indeed have stuff on their site for Universals.

bmelchionda is right, the link above, along with the links in it, is as good as it gets. It is the online version of my paperback owner's manual. There is a service manual also, but I would not recommend it, unless you plan to rebuild your engine. Another vote for Marine Diesel Direct here (http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/universal/welcome.html). I had the M12-2 in my CP26 and this was a great site for info and parts.

Check Amazon.com. I found a manual for my Yanmar there by Clymer. Don't know if they make one for Universal or not.

My C-25 is also an 86 with an inboard. I sail out of Nyack Boat Club just north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. My hull is no. 5339.
I´ve got an original owner´s manual that I´d be glad to copy for you, but it will have to be after the 17th of December, when I return home.
