I am looking for a good Digital Video Camera to use on the boat. I want something that has good quality as well as a way to keep it dry on the boat. I want to take some sailing Videos while sailing as well as some of the races that I watch. Any ideas would be great. I am looking to mout it on a Ram mount as well as hand hold. Thanks a lot.
Hey Don, that whole world has changed and continues to do so, very quickly. I would try consumers report. I don't think you need to pay to look at past reports on the their website. The last camera I owned was an Aries 16mm with 400 foot mags and a three lens turet. Good luck.
Don, don't forget that many of the current generation of digital cameras can also take videos. I used mine to take photos of my daughter's track meets and was happy with the results. Sound too.
Thanks for the info. Ihave a Digital Rebel XT that I use a lot now. I am looking a t a video camer that I can use when sailing. I can not find any cases for the cameras, would a plastic bag work if I cut a hole for the lens. The camera will not go under water I just want to protect it from splashes when I sail. Thanks
I use an Aquapac when we float down the Yakima river each summer to protect my Canon Elph. I can highly recommend it except in low light situations where the pictures tend toward the purple end of the spectrum. If you're taking in daylight, or in well lit inside shots, no problem. I used this same bag in Bangkok a few years back and got caught out in more than one monsoon-like downpour with it. Got some of my most interesting pictures that way, and no water inside the bag, or most importantly the camera. The price is certainly right as well, and it will float if dropped into the water.
