Thanks for the link, it looks extremely interesting. However, I am afraid I will have to leave the Admiral at home. I spend my time trying to convince her that we really aren't heeling that much...
I just realized, it looks like a movie about Donald Crowhurst, who started off on an around the world race in 1968 in a multihull, and stopped racing after awhile and continued sailing around the Atlantic, sending fraudulent reports about his progress, as if he was still racing. It's probably the most bizarre racing story ever. It looks like a must-see for sailors.
Its been over a year but I finally found the movie "Deep Water", the story of Donald Crowhurst. I found it on blockbuster online.
Didnt know what to expect but it turned out to be good movie. Its a documentary using actual film footage, including much footage shot by Donald himself during his (alleged) race around the world.
There were recent interviews with his family, business partners and others whom were in the race.
The wife and I just saw Deep Water last month and loved the movie. It is a great documentary about a most bizarre story. Crowhurst begins a brave individualist and ends in utter failure. Great story.
Too often documentaries of this nature are poorly put together, but this one is done very well.
There are also a couple of books written about Crowhurst which I found simply fascinating and hard to put down. "The Strange Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst" is one, "Voyage for Madmen" is the other.
