I am building a general database of all capri 25's in existence to begin tracking them. I need your help in gathering any and all information. Please email all responses to:
10) Ownership Status (for sale, rarely sailed, permanentely Dry Docked)
Solicit, snoop, scam.........If you talk to an owner who is suspicious or wishes to inquire further, please let them know any and all information they provide will be held confidentially AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME.
I don't know if this boat is on your list, but the Owner did not know the hull number so I suspect that it is not. I sailed on this boat last weekend and had a chance to look at the manuf. plate.
Owner - George Poke Address - Seneca, SC Phone - unknown email - unknown hull no. - 3 (red hull)(no name I could discern) Yacht Club - Keowee Sail Club Home Port - Keowee Sail club Sailing Purpose - racing Vessel condition - sound, but pretty run down, new sails - (took first and second overall in two races that I crewed for) Ownership status - actively raced and sailed by husband and wife team, stays in the water so far as I have noticed, wouldn't expect to see it on the market anytime soon. Side note - I noticed all and I mean all of the hardware on the boat was either stainless steel or some other well plated metal. No nylon hardware. I'm guessing this was a show boat at some point in time or the early models were fitted with nicer hardware than my #433 hull.
I've also spotted another Capri 25 on a trailer at this club, It appears to have been neglected and abandoned, but I'll investigate it further after I've located the owner. According to rumor he brought it to the club and raced it several times then abandoned it to the dry dock storage area.
The fellow in the slip next to mine at the Great Salt Lake Marina has a Capri 25 which he claims is the only Capri 25 Catalina ever made with a wing keel. Have you ever heard of any others?

"play thing for grandkids", but I will be learning how to repair and then sail it.
Described in my earlier posting. Sails appear to be OK. I fixed the wiring which the previous owner had messed up. Leaks appear to be confined to the cabin around the windows and down the hull onto the cushions under the windows. Impact damage on port side. Bad damage to support under/for the wooden post supporting the mast. All exterior wood badly needs to be sanded down and repainted. Parts of the deck appear to be delaminated.... but, I have yet to learn how to identify and fix these. All the rest appears to be OK.
Own ... not selling .... will be "playing" at fixing it up ... and then learning to sail it. [I am a design engineer by training with experience from the Lunar Module Descent Stage through aircraft as well as a scientist .... a "Google" search will pop-up publications, patents, etc. ..... who is now looking forward to "playing" with things and enjoying the lake with our grandkids along with our kayaks, canoe, "ski" boat, and sailboats.]
