I'm sorry to say we've had to cancel this year's National Regatta, intended to be held in Holland, Michigan next month. We simply did not have enough boats committed to participate in order to schedule and hold a viable race.
I want to publicly thank Mark Melchior for his yeoman efforts to obtain a site and put together the necessary race documents and plans, all on extremely short notice. Bravo, Mark!
Mark and the others on the Race Committee all worked hard to put together C250 Design Class Rules. On this and all other aspects of the Regatta plans, I thank (in alphabetic order) Derek Crawford, Jim Meier, Jack Metzel and Duane Wolff.
Thanks also to Bill Krater and the great folks at the LMCA, who agreed to host us at this year's Rendezvous on such short notice. We've already let them know and thanked them for their cooperation. We hope to hold a future event there again. If you're still interested in attending Holland, by all means do so, as the Rendezvous is still very much on.
I don't believe this year's disappointment is necessarily any trend. But we will be asking you for your input as to what events are of interest to you as we look to race and otherwise enjoy our boats.
