It looks like my company is relocating me from land locked Indiana to Charlotte, NC. I'm not familiar with the area and was hoping for some assistance on where to dock my C25.

Thanks for any and all information provided.

Mike

Hi Mike,
We are docked in Oriental, NC (would be a 3-4 hr drive for you). There is Washington, which would be a bit closer. These would put you on or near Pamlico Sound

Also there is Lake Norman just north of Charlotte (http://www.lakenormannc.com/)

Mike S,

If you haven't already done so, you might consider also posting your question on [TrailerSailor.Com]. The regular denizens there can be every bit as helpful as folks here, but there are a whole lot more of them!

Mike,

Try to contack Zack, better know as Southern Cross, on this forum. He lives in Huntersville, NC which is near or on Lake Normam which he sails extensively.

We're on the Pamlico River at Washington, NC so let us know if we can help and welcome to the Tar Heel State.

Bill

I have not sailed Lake Norman, but hear that it is fairly large and has a big sailing community.

What is it like to live aboard in that area if you know?

What is the employment picture in the area, again, if you know?

We sail on Lake Norman, and I keep my boat at All Seasons Marina. It's a great spot, relatively protected with easy access to the main channel.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Sorry, just saw the question. We live in Raleigh and work in RTP, so I don't really know what the situation is in Oriental. What I do know is there is little other than marinas and shrimp boats. Nearest town/city of any size if New Bern (home of Eastern Carolina University). There are a number of marinas that you can walk/bike to downtown, such as it is. I would venture it is more of a live-aboard place if you telecommute., rather than look for a job you can go to (unless you are in the service industry or shrimp fishery). You can check the sponsors in Neuse Sailing Association (http://www.neusesailing.com/) to get a picture of the businesses.

If my company moved me from Indiana to Charlotte, NC...I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven!
