Im thinking of selling my '86 Catalina 25 TR FK, but im not sure what kind of price to ask. Ill probably have someone come by and take a look and give me an idea but i figured id put a thread on here as well. The interior is spotless and perfect. All the teak inside has been redone and so has all the wiring and light fixtures. Electric bilge has been installed and keel bolts have minor rust. No leaks in fresh water system and entire system was recently cleaned. The fordeck and cockpit both have some spider cracks and rust stains but no major damage. The hull has a couple scratches just through the gellcoat on the port side about 4 inches long. The bottom paint is about a year and a half old. I have a rollfurling 110 and the mainsail belongs to a standard rig, the tall rig main was recently ripped beyond repair. Head sail has 70% life left and no patches, main has 40% 2 patches I also have a spinnaker with a snuffer and pole that has 2 small patches and some color bleeding but is in fine shape. Based on what ive mentioned what do you think i could ask for the boat. Obviously many other things need to be taken into consideration but give a rough estimate. Thanks!

More than anything else, the local market will determine fair market value for your boat.
To get an idea of asking prices for comparable boats, do a search on Yachtworld, Boat Trader,...etc, for your geographic area. It should give you an idea of boat prices in your local market.
Sail inventory is pretty minimal. A new main will be needed and a 110 on a roller is not much (135 would be better). Spinnaker and pole offset that somewhat.
Assuming running engine in good condition, a similar boat just was sold here for $4500. No trailer.
Andrew, Here is a listing that is in the arcives on a 1985 fin/standard rig that we bought from the association treasurer. The price justifications are included in the thread. You can probably use this as a starting point in comparison to yours. And the photo's will help to show the condition of the boat. The Admiral and I are very satisfied with the deal we got, but then again we did get some extra sweat work out of JB since he is still in our marina
I agree with Don. Check the local area for similar boats. If not locally, than in the surrounding states. What may be worth $4500 in San Diego may be worth $6500 in Florida. My insurance company is always reminding me that the replacement value, and therefore the insured value, is driven by the local/regional market.
A trailer is not that big a deal with a fin keel--it's not really a trailer boat like the swing and wing. The spinnaker is of limited value in this market because most of your prospective buyers are new sailors--it's nice to have, but doesn't likely add to the value.
On the plus side, the "rust" on your keelbolts is probably just discoloration, algae, or the like--they're stainless steel on the '86. Scrub them a little and they should shine. The 110, even on a furler, might not be a bad choice for a non-racer, and the furler is a plus for any headsail. But that mainsail is an issue--a buyer will automatically expect to need to buy another one (even though the standard sail is approximately the same as the reefed tall rig sail). If the jib is original, they'll probably expect to need a new one, too.
If your hull is white, you can patch those gelcoat scratches with stuff in a tube from West Marine, and then sand it smooth with extremely fine sandpaper. It's a good idea whether you sell or not.
Check the online listings for C-25s across the country and similar boats (24-26') in your area. As a pure SWAG without seeing it or really knowing enough to say this, I might list it at $6850, allowing for the sails, and work from there.
Also, be aware that potential buyers are lurking on this site, reading these threads...
