What is the best way to lube the kerf someone told me west marine has a dry lube, Any body else out there with other ideas Thanks

Dobie sponge or a section of old sail with a bolt rope, on a halyard, both ends, (downhaul), and palmolive.

I like Superlube for that--a dry lube that lasts and also worked well on the bolt rope (cable) for my genoa going into the furler kerf. West had it--a lot of other places didn't. Soap is more temporary unless you never have any rain. But you can always squirt a little liquid soap over the topmost slug and let it run down over the others before pulling up the sail--I've done that.

Buck,

Most of the folks here at one time or another relied on liquid soap to lube the sail slot...then SAILKOTE came along and for my part at least, it was nummero uno. It lubes everything, hatch slides, wooden draws, furling sailbolt ropes, anything that produces friction it handles. It's main advantage is that it doesn't attract dirt and it lasts much longer than other lubes. Of course it is expensive; 4 ounce spray can @ 10.00, 12 ounce spray can @ $18.00. even by the gallon @ $120.00. Great stuff.
