Our port bulkhead in the salon has old goopy glue from what looks like old velcro fastenings. Does anyone have a suggestion for removing sticky stuff from the bulkhead without discoloring the teak veneer? We are trying to get the surface to look uniform and new.

Worked in retail a long time. We used some stuff designed as an adhesive remover that smelled just like WD-40. I've used WD-40 on lots of things since and it works great. I don't know what it will do to the wood finish though. You have to spray it on and let it work for 30 minutes or so, depending on the quantity of goo.

There's a variety of products found in the typical hardware store for removing this 'kinda stuff'.
'Goof-off', 'Goo-Gone', 'OOps'... (etc).

As John mentioned, WD-40 often does a pretty good job at softening adhesives. (but not always).

Most adhesives are fat soluble, hence wd-40 effectiveness. Test a hidden spot, if you are unhappy, cooking oil, teak oil or almost any oil will work. Heavy oils are v e r y s l o w . I've used Oops on other wood with success, but no experience with teak.

A couple of weeks back someone posted about a gelcoat compatable material that even removed 5200. Might be what you are looking for.
