Okay, it is March 1st and time for those of us in the North to get serious about preparing for the upcoming season. As the 2006 National Tall Rig and Overall Champion I am writing to officially challenge all C-25 sailors within reasonable driving-or sailing-distance of Cleveland, Ohio to attend the 2007 Nationals at Edgewater Yacht Club.

Last year at about this time I decided to step up from just being a club racer and attend the National event. It seemed overwhelming-the boat prep and travel-but we broke it down into many small steps and before we knew it we were there. Not expecting to win. Not knowing what to expect. And we brought the HARDWARE home to tiny Atwood Lake. And that Perpetual Trophy looks REAL NICE hanging on the wall at the Yacht Club where everyone sees it.

This year another boat from Atwood intends to join us at the Nationals and it seems only logical that the local(Lake Erie)sailors especially should be interested in defending their local turf(or surf). The Atwood boats are interested in a 1-2 finish.

So even if you do not think you have the skills to race in this event--neither did I. Give it a try. And if you know you're good--then come out and try and keep the HARDWARE from traveling back to Atwood--again.

Regardless of your order of finish, it will be a great time. Last Year around 100 boats participated in Cleveland Race Week. The food, beverage, hospitality, music, trophies were all FIRST CLASS. Great comraderie and tons of FUN !!!!

How about a 2-3 finish for you atwood folks.....somebodys got an axe to grind and since he's not running the regatta this year he has plenty of time to spend at the grinding wheel....

Yeah, Duane !!!! That's what I'm talking about. Let's get some ENTHUSIASM from Lake Erie sailors to participate. Hopefully there are others out there who want to defend their own lake against the "UPSTARTS" from little Atwood.

Of course, Atwood is the breeding ground of many great sailors. They say if you can sail Atwood, you can sail anywhere-----or is that Erie?

Looking forward to ROUND 2 with the Flying Wasp !!!

Just adding my two cents...

I participated in last years Nationals as well and had a blast. Finishing 5th (I think) overall out of 9 boats, I was happy, but I'd have been happy if I'd have finished 9th too. It was just so much fun and have met some really excellent people. I can't say enough about the staff and facilities at the Edgewater Yacht Club either. Experiencing such a wonderful place was definitely one of the highlights.

Anyway, I wish I could encourage more Central Ohio C25 owners to make the trip, and I'm still working on it, but I know I'm going to be participating again, blown out sails and all.

I was 9th last year and it was a great experience, even after my impeller problems and snagging the mark in front of the commitee boat

! . My intentions are to go to nationals again this year, but won't know for sure until we get closer to June.

So, if you bought your c25, c250 or capri25 to trailer it to some-other place and your within a half days driving time, what better place than Lake Erie, and Nationals to boot. It will be a time to remember!

Well, for all of you who are planning to attend, please hurry up and send me you applications, you think t-shirts grow on trees? I need to know sizes pretty quick! And for you Ohio Boats, just remember Florida kicked your but this year in football and will again in the basket ball finals, and even though I live in Indiana (another championship team) I originally hail from Florida (boat too) so be ready for and Hoosier Smack dowm again this year for the standard rigs!!!! Man I can hardly wait to see you guys again.
