I have seen some like that when I visited San Francisco. I can't figure out why they just don't fall over. BTW: Love the area, just wish we could afford to live out there.
What's fun is to see the tugs parallel park the sucker between two others in the Oakland Estuary with a few feet to spare on either end. Typically these guys come in 2 or three in a row every afternoon, you really have to plan for them.
I sail that part of SF Bay and everytime there has been a container ship in the area. The bow is so high the bridge cannot see anything ahead less than a mile. Windage is a real problem for them so they have to move at least 8 knots to keep steerage. They know the shipping channel and expect you to know too. We usually sail in the shallows.
