I'm working on a '78 25, and the previous owner was nice enough to butcher up the hanging locker/closet across from the head. I'm trying to rebuild it to original specs, but I have no idea how it's supposed to look. Are there any pictures on the net of the correct layout? Would anyone mind sending me a picture of the original construction?
Welcome to the Forum! I've got a '77, so maybe I can help out.
I think there were two different styles ... one with a hanging locker across from the head, and the other with a sink. Mine is a hanging locker, and it sounds like yours is, too ... but, if there was a sink there, I won't be able to help much.
There isn't much to the hanging locker. It simply has a bar across the top to hang clothes on, and an open storage area in the bottom. I have a photo of mine that I took when I first bought my boat ... it is a pretty crappy photo, but it might be better than nothing.
I've got to leave town to pick up my daughter at summer camp, so I don't have time to scan the photo right now. Please let me know if you'd like me to post the photo, and I'll work on it when I get home this afternoon.
I'll be interested, too, Buzz... We could use the locker a lot better than the sink we now have. I think two sinks in a 25-footer is a little silly--problem is, the forward one works best.

We have a 1982 with the original sink design across from the head. We are going to remove it to get more hanging space (don't need two sinks in a C25) as many others have done. I will take a digital picture of the setup before the removal and after. If you are interested in the parts which will be removed, e-mail me at Sailynn@jps.net. We are in California and would sell the parts cheap if you pay the shipping from Nevada City, CA.
OK y'all, I apologize for the quality of this photo, but I suppose it's better than nothing. I took this the day I got my boat home ... there was so much stuff on the floor, there was no room to walk or stand. This photo is taken at an angle, so I'll try to describe what you're looking at.
The hanging bar is in the top left-hand corner of the photo. It is mounted to the two bulkheads on each end with standard round closet rod brackets that are made of hard plastic. The rod itself is parallel with the bottom of the window, and it is mounted slightly inboard and below the angled point where the cabin top meets with the deck. You can see hangars in the photo ... they are pushed all the way to the right end of the rod.
In the left side of the photo you can see the teak paneling on the forward bulkhead. There is a partition in front of the hanging locker that is perpendicular to the two bulkheads, and you can see where it "T's" into the forward bulkhead. This partition forms a storage space in the bottom of the hanging locker (you can see a white cushion, a battery, and the fresh water intake hose in the bottom of the storage area). The area behind the head in my boat has a storage area just like this (I have a porta-potti ... 'don't know if marine heads have the same setup). BTW, the aft end of the partition T's into the rear bulkhead just about even with the front edge of the settee on the other side.
Mine also has a book/magazine rack attached to the front of the "partition" that Buzz described. It looks original, but I don't know if it is. Either way, it's very convenient.
Mine also has the storage area behind the head, which is non-porta type.
My slip neighbor's '78 C25 has the second sink (which he never uses). The hanging of jackets, wet suits, etc. is a much better use of this space.
Saw an idea the other day where a guy had taken the sink from accross from the had and instaled it on a flip up shelf behing the head. Folded down it sits above the toilet and when it drains it drains right into the toilet. Now thats slick.
I have the sink set up and like it. We keep all the personal hygiene stuff in the cabinet underneath, shampoo, TP, porti potti liquid, first aid kit, etc. In the shelf over the sink is the shaving gear, tooth brushes and paste, etc. The hanging locker behind the porti potti was a waste of space so I removed it and built a two shelf cabinet with a louvered door for ventilation. I mounted hangers for a piece of doweling that stretches between the bulkheads just over the porti potti for the few times we have wet gear. The cabinet can hold beach towels, and all the clothing I need for a week at Catalina Island, plus extra wind breakers for guests.
