Has anyone found the mystical passage for VHF cabling from the hollow area under the mast step in the cabin to the starboard teak trim below the starboard portlights? It seems hollow when knocking but I cant seem to snake all the way. Has anyone made it?
We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.
Randy, I made that trip a couple years ago, as I recall its not a straight shot to the starboard. You'll have to head to the forward part of the channel as you run the coaxial over.
Yup, ran a snake from behind the electrical panel fwd to the hump on the stbd side. Removed the stbd cabin roof light and snaked down and stbd to the hump.
I left a light line in place so that I can pull new cables if needed.
Thanks Paul and Tom! I guess I'll try some more. I used fairly stiff wire but maybe I need to use a real electrician's snake. Paul it sounds like you didn't run the coax under the teak trim but actually in the hollow space right above the teak. I'm impressed.
The PO ran the coax down the mast and then across the floor to the starboard storage area. No way that is going to stay.
Randy, I know exactly what you mean. At least yours is out of sight, mine runs from the breaker panel then to port where it wraps around the hatch and out across the middle of the cabin roof to the leaking coax connector. The little fill holes in the cabin roof when I replace it are going to irk me the rest of the time I own the boat.

Just put a bolt similar to those used on the Jib track, it'll match the rest of them in the cabin roof!
