We have had our 250 since last summer but just getting down to fixing her up for this sailing season. We have a jib that is bigger than normal and I'm wanting to get it cut down to a 135 % since that seems to be the best sail size from what I've read from this forum. My concern is sheeting angle because we have the shrouds down at the deck hull joint. Anyone else with an early boat with a 135 jib?
We are also going to get an asymetric chute soon and were wondering if others had good things to say about the Catalinaowners.com site that has a conection with Doyle Sailmakers?
I have an asymetrical from Doyle that I bought from the Hunterowners.com website. I bought it for a Hunter 23 WK that I had at the time. When I sold the Hunter and bought the 250, I kept it.
I really like the sail and the quailty is excellent. It is a little undersized for the Catalina 250 but it still works well off the wind. The website says they are very efficent between apparent wind angles of 110 to 130 degrees. I agree with that.
I would also buy the chute. It came in handy several times.
I bought my asym from Doyle and have been more than pleased with it. It was made for the Catalina 250 WK and I also got the dousing sock (chute) for it. They were exceptionally nice and followed up several times to check out how it was working out on my boat. I would definately buy from them again.
