Is the hoist ready to launch us in June? My plan is to leave on the 25 or 26 June and arrive Anacortes 28 or 29. The hoist which was being rebuilt is suppost to be in operation. The month of July on the water and maybe able to meet up with Forum members on the road and on the water. There was an earlier thread with some possible plans. Are you still out there?

This is the new boat launch in action.
If you are going to launch with mast up I think it will not be at Cap Sante north this is now run by the city and the gas dock is ran by Cap Sante LTD .
I'll check with Don at Cap Sante south monday to see if they are going to use the south yard travel lift.
Skyline Marina has a travel lift not sure about parking.
I'll check it out.

Thanks Paul, looks real good. I will use it as the budget only allows hoist. The travel lift is a bit more expensive. I always get a slip for setting up and loading the groceries, fuel and water because it keeps the travel weight down. It also allows time to get my sea legs before heading out. Say Hi to Don as he was a kid when we first came to Anacortes's Cap Sante. Skyline had a length limit on their hoist of 25' or 26' which kept one of our boats away. Cap Sante did let us park on the north area which was a place also for staying on the trailer for a night or two after landing and if it is raining. Thanks again Paul.

I am available now till early July to do some sailing. Lets get together when you make it up here. If you are military, you can use the seaplane ramps in Oak Harbor for free. Parking is also a very reasonable free. I keep my boat at the marina on base.

Tom.

That sounds real good. I have flown into the base there but that was a long time ago. Should we move this to the Cruising Forum to let other interested crews get in on a Forum Cruise? I like the idea of reducing cost but the new hoist keeps the trailer out of the brine. Ideas for times and contacts could be set up. Don Fowler use to let us post get togethers.

Hi Jim

Cap Sante is a lot more convenient for provisoning, but you might consider Skyline Marina in Flounder Bay. Was there a couple years ago and asked about launching the fin keel C25 with their sling setup to avoid the expense and scheduling of the Travelift. Fellow said no problem except at low tide for the 4' draft, and that there would be a nearby slip for raising the mast. One "drives through" the sling area versus backing out as at Cap Sante. They have secure parking in a large warehouse building to the west of the marina at $5-6 a day, versus the open field at Cap Sante.

Beware of water depth at the channel mouth on minus tides and favor the right-hand side while exiting.

Good luck
